Setup and connections

Export your calendar to an .ics file

You want a copy of the events and deadlines you can access in BRON in another calendar application.

Before you begin

  • Access to the firm's calendar in BRON.
  • A destination calendar you are authorized to use for matter information.

What to do

  1. Open Calendar in the firm app. Inspect the events and deadlines you intend to carry over. Resolve a disputed date with the responsible attorney before treating it as a calendared obligation.
  2. Choose Export calendar. The control exports the events and deadlines available through the calendar export. Do not assume a visible date range or screen filter limits the downloaded file.
  3. Wait for the Calendar exported notice and locate the .ics download. If BRON reports that it could not export, check your connection and use Try again. A failed export is not an empty calendar.
  4. Use your destination calendar's import command to open the .ics file. Choose the intended calendar and inspect the proposed import before accepting it. That application's import options determine how it handles existing entries.
  5. Compare several imported entries with BRON, including an all-day deadline and an event with a time. Check the date, time zone and matter description. Record which copy your team will maintain so later changes are reconciled deliberately.

What you should see

The destination application has the entries it imported from that downloaded file. Keep BRON's underlying deadline and its attorney confirmation available for review.

Limits and unresolved problems

This is a one-time export. Google and Outlook calendar sync are not connected in production. A later change in BRON does not update an imported .ics copy, and importing again may create duplicates in the other application.
