Before you begin
- An owner or administrator for a firm-wide export, or staff access to the matter being exported.
- An appropriate destination with enough storage for the selected files.
What to do
- Open the Firm page and find Firm export. Select one matter or, when your role permits it, the firm-wide scope. Read the scope carefully. The export is limited by the matters you may export, including applicable access restrictions.
- Choose Preview the export. Inspect the scope, counts and any stated omissions before continuing. If the preview fails, retry or report the error. A failed read does not mean the firm has no documents, and an omitted item should not disappear from the handoff explanation.
- Decide whether to include document bytes. With the option cleared, the manifest and structured records still index documents, but the actual files are not included. Choose that smaller export only when the recipient needs an index or audit rather than the documents themselves.
- Read the confirmation and download the selected scope. Wait for the result before closing the browser. If the browser cannot write directly to disk, it holds the archive in the tab; a large export may need a smaller scope or a browser that supports streaming.
- Open the archive and inspect the manifest, structured files and stated omissions. Keep the proof with the export and use the supplied verification material when checking it outside BRON. For a transfer, tell the recipient exactly which scope and document-byte option were selected.
What you should see
A downloaded archive identifies its scope and omissions and includes the selected records, document files when requested, a manifest and the available proof.
Limits and unresolved problems
Matching file digests establishes that the bytes match the recorded files. It does not establish correctness or that nothing is missing. A calendar commitment and a confirmed timestamp are different proof states.
