Log time and prepare an invoice for review

You need to record work on the correct matter and prepare an invoice whose time, rates, expenses and other charges can be checked before it reaches the client.

Before you begin

  • Matter access, the work details and the firm's agreed billing terms.

What to do

  1. Open Billing and Log time. Select the matter, enter the work description and record the duration, using the timer or the time fields. Check the selected matter and date before saving so the entry reaches the intended ledger.
  2. Review the rate and any coding shown. Rates come from the firm's configured terms. If the rate cannot be read, establish it from the agreed terms or resolve the lookup; do not interpret an unavailable rate as free work.
  3. Choose Log Time and confirm that the entry appears. If your firm requires time approval, a different licensed attorney must approve the entry before it can be invoiced. A saved entry and an approved entry are separate states.
  4. Open the matter's invoice workflow and review the uninvoiced items before choosing Create invoice. Check time, expenses, AI usage and any manual charges against the agreed terms. Read the basis recorded for each line and investigate unsupported amounts.
  5. Open the resulting invoice and check the client, matter, rates, totals and wording. Preparing an invoice does not prove delivery or payment. If creation fails, check the invoice list before retrying so you do not prepare a second invoice for the same work.

What you should see

The work is recorded on the intended matter and the prepared invoice has been inspected against its underlying entries before any separate approval or delivery action.

Limits and unresolved problems

These are the firm's client invoices, separate from the firm's BRON subscription charges. Payment by card depends on the firm's own connected payment account. BRON never sends money out of a bank account.
