Before you begin
- A matter with the relevant documents and facts recorded.
- A clear document type, audience and purpose, with an attorney responsible for review.
What to do
- Open the matter and the drafting workflow for the document you need. State the assignment in concrete terms: the document, recipient, issues to address and material it should answer. Identify an opposing filing or request when that document is the subject of the response.
- Inspect the facts and source documents before starting. Preserve statuses such as disputed or admitted in the instructions. If a necessary document will not process, resolve that problem or identify the gap rather than asking the drafter to infer what it probably says.
- Read the proposed plan where the workflow provides one. Have the required attorney approve internal preparation. Approval of that plan does not approve a later send, signature, filing or other act with an outside effect.
- When the draft arrives, read its text and any notices naming material that could not be included. Open the sources behind material propositions. For long documents, review the sections together so an argument is not repeated, contradicted or detached from its qualification elsewhere.
- Save your revisions and route the intended saved version for attorney review. Resolve citation holds through the citation review process. If generation stops or a source read fails, keep that outcome explicit in the handoff instead of presenting a partial draft as ready to send.
What you should see
A saved draft is ready for substantive review, with recorded fact use where supported and unresolved source or drafting issues stated for the reviewer.
Limits and unresolved problems
BRON prepares work product for attorney review. A generated draft is not approved or sent. Older drafts created before fact-use tracking was introduced do not acquire that history retroactively.
