Before you begin
- Access to the matter and its recorded witnesses, evidence and exhibits.
What to do
- Open the matter, then Trial and Order of proof. Start by checking which witnesses and exhibits have been recorded. An empty section describes the records available to this view, not the evidence that may exist elsewhere.
- Read each witness's entry against the underlying documents and testimony. Identify the points counsel intends to establish, then inspect the exhibits associated with that witness. A source link helps you inspect the record; it does not decide admissibility.
- Review suggested witnesses before accepting them. A suggested witness's side starts as unknown unless the record states it. Counsel should confirm the person's role and side instead of inferring either from a familiar name.
- Arrange the witnesses in the intended order and review the sequence again. Use Index to inspect the recorded witnesses, exhibits and objections. Keep unresolved foundation questions in your preparation notes until counsel has answered them.
- If an expected entry is absent, check the underlying witness or exhibit record first. If the view reports a loading failure, retry before interpreting the absence. Report a persistent problem with the matter and the affected entry through your firm's support process.
What you should see
You have a reviewable witness sequence with its recorded exhibits and open questions, ready for counsel to check before exporting or using it at trial.
Limits and unresolved problems
Trial has three working views: Order of proof, Before trial and Index. Other trial tools are in development. The order assembles recorded material; counsel supplies legal judgment and decides what to present.
