Client requests

Read the receipt after sending a file

You uploaded a file and want to know whether it arrived, whether it answered the request and whether your firm reviewed it.

Before you begin

  • The matter and request used for the upload, if there was one.
  • The filename and approximate time you sent it.

What to do

  1. Return to the item where you sent the file and read the outcome for that filename. Check each file separately when you sent several. A completed transfer for one file does not describe the others.
  2. Read Received as confirmation that BRON received the file. Look separately for any review state shown by the firm. Do not infer that an attorney opened it, accepted its contents or decided the request was satisfied.
  3. If the upload was not matched to a request, read the receipt on its own terms. It can say the file was received without showing a review step for a checklist item.
  4. If the outcome is unknown, follow the check or retry instruction shown. Keep the original file and the filename. Tell the firm the outcome is unresolved if it persists; an unknown outcome does not establish either arrival or failure.
  5. If the filename, matter or request is wrong, contact your firm with those details. Ask how it wants the correction recorded. Keep the receipt available so the team can identify the first submission and avoid confusing it with another version.

What you should see

You can distinguish a recorded arrival, an unresolved upload and any separate review status. The firm can use the filename and request to investigate a discrepancy.

Limits and unresolved problems

A receipt is not attorney review, proof that a request is fully answered, or a malware clearance. BRON reports what it could check. Ask the firm whether it needs additional material and whether it has reviewed what arrived.
