BRON for Mac

Prepare BRON for Mac for a firm's request

A firm has asked you to use BRON for Mac to provide material from named sources on your computer.

Before you begin

  • A Mac running macOS 15 or later.
  • A request from the firm through its client portal and the installation instructions it supplies.

What to do

  1. Confirm who sent the request and which matter it concerns through the firm's usual contact channel. Being asked to provide material does not by itself mean that the requesting firm represents you.
  2. Check the Mac's operating-system version before installing. Use the BRON for Mac installation route supplied for this request. If it is missing or fails, ask the firm for the current route instead of downloading a similarly named application elsewhere.
  3. Open BRON for Mac and follow the connection instructions associated with your portal request. Confirm the firm, matter, requesting person, sources and dates shown before accepting anything.
  4. Review the named sources on this Mac. A folder or local Apple Mail source is different from mail that exists only on a server. Tell the firm if the requested material is on another device or in an unsupported source.
  5. Read and accept the request only when its scope is clear. Grant the macOS permissions needed for those sources through the operating system. Keep the Mac available for the collection and use Pause if you need to stop while clarifying the request.

What you should see

BRON for Mac is connected to the request you reviewed, and collection can proceed from its accepted sources once the required permissions are present.

Limits and unresolved problems

Collection runs in BRON for Mac. There is no collection app for iPhone, Windows or Android. Requests originate with the firm through the portal; creating them inside Collector is in development. Ask the firm about another way to provide unsupported material.
