Before you begin
- The firm's collection request and the result shown in BRON for Mac.
- The names of any sources or files you expected it to read.
What to do
- Read the result for each named source. Separate material received from material found but not copied, a source that could not be read and a search that found no match. Those outcomes require different follow-up.
- For a file that could not be copied, read the listed reason. A cloud-only file may be listed without being downloaded. Tell the firm where it lives and ask how it wants that source provided rather than assuming a listing includes its contents.
- For a permission problem, check the named macOS permission and retry only after addressing it. If the source was unavailable, preserve that result and tell the firm. An unknown count means BRON could not establish the count.
- For a search with no match, compare the accepted sources and dates with what you expected. Explain any other location you know about. A search of those sources does not establish that the material does not exist elsewhere.
- Give the firm the request name, source and reported reason for any unresolved item. Read the receipt for material that did arrive, then let the firm decide what further collection or review is needed.
What you should see
The firm has a description of the material received and the collection gaps that need attention, without treating failed reads or unknown counts as zero.
Limits and unresolved problems
BRON for Mac does not download cloud-only files, read Outlook or mail that exists only on a server, or recover deleted items. A receipt confirms arrival, not attorney review, relevance, admissibility or that the collection fulfills the request.
