BRON for Mac

Give BRON for Mac permission to read requested sources

BRON for Mac cannot read a requested source, or macOS is asking you to grant access before collection can continue.

Before you begin

  • BRON for Mac on macOS 15 or later.
  • A firm request whose named sources you have read and accepted.

What to do

  1. Read the source and permission named in the message. Compare it with the request you accepted. If you do not understand why the source is needed, pause collection and ask the firm before changing access.
  2. Open the Mac's System Settings and go to Privacy & Security. Find the permission named by the app or macOS. Grant access to BRON for Mac only after checking that you selected the intended application.
  3. If Full Disk Access is required, enable it in that settings category yourself. BRON cannot grant it on your behalf. Follow any macOS instruction to reopen the app, then return to the same request.
  4. For help that uses a shared window, review the Screen Recording permission separately. A permission for a support session serves a different purpose from permission to read a source. Close unrelated windows before showing your screen.
  5. Retry the affected source and read the result. If it still cannot be read, give the firm the source name and the exact permission message. A managed work Mac may require help from your administrator; repeatedly reinstalling the app does not establish the missing permission.

What you should see

The requested source can be read if the needed operating-system permission and local material are available. Any remaining inability to read it needs its own explanation.

Limits and unresolved problems

A macOS permission does not broaden the firm's accepted request. Cloud-only files and server-only mail are separate limits, and permission cannot make them local. A failed read is not a finding that the source contains no relevant material.

Still need a hand?

Contact the firm that sent the request. Tell them which step you reached and what the screen says. Your firm handles legal questions and decides what to do next.
